Open Public Records

Prior to making a request for records, citizens should familiarize themselves with the Georgia Open Records Act, specifically section O.C.G.A. 50-18-71 which details the costs expected to be recovered by the County for the search, retrieval, redaction, and production of records; and section O.C.G.A. 50-18-72 which specifies what types of records or portions of records are exempt from public disclosure. Payment is expected for requests when staff has incurred costs to produce documents (minus the first 15 minutes at no charge). For broader requests that may incur costs over $25, a pre-retrieval estimate will be provided prior to production of documents.
